Designing Your Corporate Logo

Your corporate logo is one of the most critical aspects of your marketing and branding strategy. It is how your customers recognize you, and is or will become a symbol of your company’s products, ethics, culture, and more. You will want to spend some time creating a unique and recognizable logo, as doing so can help to differentiate your company in a crowded marketplace. As you are designing your corporate logo, you will want to keep in mind some of these tips and pointers:

  1. Unique Color Scheme – Because the symbol of your company is used in large part to identify you and set you apart from the competition, the last thing that you want is for your symbol to be closely related to or easily confused with one of your competitor’s logos. Great care should be taken to choose colors that are unique to your own company and that are aesthetically pleasing.
  2. Design – There are several different design options to choose from. Some companies will illustrate their corporate name while others will use a graphic symbol of some kind. Others will use a combination of both. As you select which strategy you will move forward with, keep in mind that it should be easy to identify and aesthetically pleasing. Fancy fonts and intricate designs are often confusing to the consumer, not to mention difficult to replicate perfectly on the items you want to place your logo on such as your website, letterhead, and so forth.
  3. Connection – The logo should appeal to the target consumer of the company in a way that expresses the culture of the company in a suitable and appropriate way. This connection should take in mind the demographics of the target audience as well as say something about the company, too. It is not enough to just draw a pretty picture.
