Spam or Slam – Is Orange Juice Funny?

I’m a big JustForLaughsTV fan this week. You should check out their other videos to get ideas for your next social media marketing campaign. So many to choose from!

This video definitely gets a grand slam for funny – now where’s the money?

For these guys it’s in the views for sure. Definitely a popular channel for high views and good potential for ad revenue but why stop there?

I can see value in almost everyone of their campaigns for big brands, local businesses, entrepreneurs – you name it. They should partner with an agency to match their videos up with someone who can financially benefit directly from the subject itself.

In this case – how great of a campaign could this be for Tropicana?

They could call it “Fresh Squeezed. Straight Out Of An Orange. No Pulp Allowed.”

The copy could be something like, “Dreaming of a day when you can cut open an orange and get a no pulp stream of orange juice? Well skip the manual labor and just buy our Fresh Squeezed Right Out Of An Orange.”

And then use a video like this to show people’s delight at watching the magic happen right before their eyes.

I also found this silly and pointless video – definitely spam – but it opened my mind to a great idea.

Tropicana or any drink manufacturer could do a video – what would you do if you woke up to find you [insert drink name] gone. Great for Starbucks right? Imagine waking up for your coffee to find it gone? Or milk? Or the last Coke or Pepsi

The opportunities for user generated content via promotions and contests is endless and a few brands have jumped on the bandwagon like Mountain Dew’s “Dewmocracy” contest challenging you to come up with the next flavor. Or just recently American Express had a great campaign to go on your dream vacation (although that campaign could definitely have been executed better at Facebook – more on that later).

I like to test myself.

I remember entering a drawing contest when I was young. The point was to show how to be a smart consumer. I won an award, but I was disappointed when it was “Most Humorous.”

JD that’s hysterical – I believe you know my biz partner and good friend Sean Platt. He is sitting next to me and says hello. I believe this is the funniest comment I’ve read all day. :)
