A new poll shows that more than half of all Americans are interacting through social media. This may be due to the fact there are now more social media sites, one for every niche, than ever before. It might also be because social media is now more acceptable than ever before.
All of this is great news for social media marketers looking to reach the widest possible audience.

What does it mean for you? Well, that depends on how you make your living, I suppose.

If you are a marketer it means you better be including social media in whatever plan you propose for your client. If you own a business or a brand or have a product to sell it means you better integrate social media marketing with whatever traditional marketing plan you have been considering.

The fact social media has attracted such a huge number of Americans means it is reaching across the demographic landscape unlike anything we have seen before. People of all ages, races, religions and financial levels are flocking to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. This means with one tool you have the potential to reach hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of users.

Social media is THE marketing tool we have all been claiming it would be. If you still don’t accept it, you are going to miss out on some great business opportunities!
