The Power Of SMM For Good
Social media marketing is a great way to promote your business and an even better way to help your organization raise money for a good cause. That makes social media a win/win for any business. At once you can promote your business and promote your company’s altruism in one swoop.
Many companies contribute to good causes. Some go big and donate millions every year directly to a charitable cause, while others provide employee volunteer for them to serve in their local communities. There are almost as many ways to give as there needs to give to. This is great for business owners who want to give back to their community and show how much they care. Social media is the tool that can help your community show what it cares about and increase how much it gives.
A number of companies, both small and large, have generated massive rewards using social media marketing. Often just the fact they are promoting their charitable giving through their network is enough to spur contributions. But they can also encourage members of their social circle to give directly or contribute to their cause through the social media network. This is a great way to generate interest for your company and the charity.
Social media is a great tool for marketing your company, communicating with clients and customers and reaching out to your community. Because it is a powerful communication tool it is also good for helping your company accomplish its goals, whatever they may be but especially when those goals are just to do good work in the community.
John Deere is one of the most iconic American brands there is. The green and yellow logo is known by most whether you grew up in the country or the city. It’s just one of those brands that gets noticed and remembered. Of course, in the Silicon Valleyized world of social media it’s hard to imagine that a company more known for its reputation with farmers is taking advantage of the online space.
The company is relatively new to the social media realm but they have come up with a unique way to promote their brand, do something very different and, ultimately feed people who are struggling. It’s called Project Can Do and the company will be constructing a model of a John Deere combine using canned food. While that is certainly different, the end game is that about 300,000 cans of food which will then be used to help stock the River Bend Foodbank in Moline, IL.
We conducted an e-mail interview with Nicole Schneider, project manager, communications for John Deere Agriculture & Turf, and Richard Williamson, project manager, art director, John Deere Agriculture & Turf. They are the Project “CAN DO” leaders.
