Want to find jobs or freelance gigs on Twitter?
Twitter is a treasure trove of information and opportunity, but only if you know where to look. Fortunately, help is at hand. The Twitter search bar makes it easy to find what you’re looking for.
All you have to do is find the right phrases to put in to search, and bingo!
You can often dig up opportunities right away with just a quick Twitter search. Whatever job you’re looking for, you’ll find leads on Twitter. Writing work, design work, virtual assistant work, any kind of work – it’s all there.
So how do you do this search? We’ve put together a set of scripts you can start using today. The examples we’ve created are for a designer, but you can rephrase them (or just substitute) for other roles.
You can start with the standard searches you’d use for a job search:
- design work
- design jobs
- design opportunities
- design help
Next, think of the phrases people might use when they’re looking for a designer:
- “designer wanted”
- “looking for a designer”
- “anyone know a designer?”
- “help with design”
- “designer needed”
- “call for designers”
You can dig a little deeper by thinking of what people might type into Twitter when they need a designer, but don’t express the need directly:
- “need a new logo”
- “need a new website”
- “i want a better website”
- “what do you think of my site?”
Finally, you can use Twitter’s advanced search tool to narrow down the search results. The best feature of this tool is helping you find opportunities near where you live.
Bonus tip: If you want to keep track of opportunities, you can create a live news feed based on your search. Just head over to Tweetdeck and create a column for your search term. Click Add Column then Search, and type in your search term. Now, you have your very own jobs notification board!
Have you ever found work on Twitter? If so, leave a comment and let us know. We’d love to hear your story!
