American Express Trying To Make Social Media Easier For Small Business

lori r taylor, revmediamarketing, social media, social media marketing, branding, product branding, networking, oneclicksocietyThey are coming a little late to the game if you ask me, but at least American Express is finally making an effort for its customers. They are now offering services to help their small business customers make best use of the various social media platforms to expand their reach and boost sales. Whether or not this new system will prove beneficial to them or their customers, remains to be seen.

The AMEX site is called “YourBuzz” and it works like a social news aggregator, streaming your news from various social media sites to one handy interface, located, conveniently enough, at your AMEX site. This will likely prove at least somewhat interesting for customers. They will likely see a big push upon launch, but whether it will prove long lasting depends a lot on whether or not those customers know about their options. And there are plenty of options.

Social media aggregators are hardly new. In fact, they have been around almost as long as social media has existed. The AMEX site will likely be at least a little different, and since it is paired with their existing AMEX account, more convenient, but the fact is, this is hardly a ground breaking initiative.

Today, American Express OPEN is launching YourBuzz, a free tool to help small businesses manage their online presence, learn what is being said about them and their competitors, and connect with customers in social media. The product is available for all small business owners and not limited to American Express Cardmembers.
YourBuzz aggregates conversations across sites such as Yelp and CitySearch, and social networks such as Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter to help business owners ensure their listings are accurate, build customer relationships, respond to online comments more quickly, and mitigate the damage that can be done from poor reviews.
YourBuzz is American Express OPEN’s latest Business App, a suite of software products to help small businesses market their products and services, increase margins and improve cash flow. While not all of the Business App products are free, they are all available to all small businesses not just American Express Cardmembers. Other products in the Business Apps portfolio include:
• SearchManager – Manages, via a centralized dashboard, paid search and social campaigns across all major search ad networks, including Google Adwords, Microsoft AdCenter, Yahoo Search Marketing and Facebook Ads.
• AdManager – Online tool designed to help small businesses create, optimize and target online display advertising campaigns on top ad networks, exchanges and branded publishers, such as DoubleClick Exchange, RightMedia, and AppNexus.
