I’m a beginner and this really helped a lot. When you really want to get their attention, it’s best that you know what you’re talking about and they know you’re not just that another nonsense commenter.

Social media is always a great way to cyber stalk influential people – without being arrested for it! haha

But seriously Twitter, RSS feeds for blogs, etc all make it easier to follow influencers.

Yes it does. And when you participate at their blogs well – help stimulate conversation they will start to pay attention to you. Everyone tweeting posting etc – not special – but taking time to participate where it benefits them at their blog – they will appreciate that.
